Holy Manna  is a hymn tune attributed to William Moore and published in 1829 in

Columbian Harmony, a shape-note song book. It was originally used with the text,

"Brethren We Have Met Together," but was subsequently published with a variety of

other sets of lyrics. I first became familiar with the tune because of its use in the

Outdoor Drama, Horn In The West, in Boone, North Carolina, in which I was a cast

member for many years, and since it was lodged so securely in my musical memory

it seemed only fitting to use it as source material for this composition. Many thanks to the Maranatha Christian Academy High School Band and their director, Steve Gordon, for premiering this piece and providing the recording!
